OSHKOSH – The Wisconsin Fraternal Order of Police and the West Allis Professional Police Association announced their endorsement for Senator Ron Johnson at a press conference in Milwaukee this morning. Their endorsements add to the growing list of law enforcement coalitions backing Johnson’s re-election campaign. Johnson was previously endorsed by a bipartisan majority of Wisconsin sheriffs, the Milwaukee Police Association, the Kenosha Professional Police Association Board, and the National Border Patrol Council.
“The Wisconsin State Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, along with the Milwaukee Police Supervisors Organization – Lodge 16, and the West Allis Professional Police Association are proud to announce our endorsement of Senator Ron Johnson to continue to represent the state of Wisconsin in the United States Senate,” Wisconsin Fraternal Order of Police President Ryan Windorff said at a press conference announcing the endorsement this morning. “We need leaders in Congress that are not afraid to stand up and support law enforcement. Through his time in office, Senator Johnson has been a steadfast supporter of the men and women of law enforcement at all levels.”
“I truly do appreciate the endorsement of the Fraternal Order of Police, West Allis Police Association, as well as my endorsements from the Milwaukee Police Association, the Kenosha Professional Police Association Board, and the National Border Patrol Council,” Senator Johnson said this morning. “The more law enforcement officials I talk to, the more concerned I become. The defund the police movement has dispirited law enforcement. Actions taken against police officers who are just doing their job have caused police officers to back off from doing the policing they want to do to keep our communities and our streets safe.”
Johnson’s opponent, Mandela Barnes has a long history of showing support for defunding the police and abolishing ICE. Barnes also called the idea of releasing violent criminals “sexy.” His administration has gone on to release over 800 criminals on parole, including 44 child rapists.
