Ron Johnson Launches Radio Ad on Construction of New Stillwater Bridge

Ron is using his private sector experience to solve problems and connect Wisconsin

The Ron Johnson campaign today launched a regionally targeted radio ad highlighting Ron’s work in passing legislation to secure construction of a bridge to replace the Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River. The ad will run in western Wisconsin through the election.

The radio ad, called “Bridge” can be heard here. It opens with a narrator running through a list of reasons that had held up construction of a replacement for the Stillwater Lift Bridge for decades, and the ensuing headaches those delays caused.

Those problems were addressed when Ron worked with Senators Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Al Franken (D-Minn.) to pass the St. Croix River Crossing Project Authorization Act. A new bridge is currently under construction and is on track to be completed next year.

“Ron Johnson knows we can accomplish a lot of things if people work together toward a common goal,” the ad’s narrator says. “For Ron, that’s how you solve problems, and he’s proven time and time again he’ll work with anyone to get the job done.”

Key Facts:

  • Ron was an original co-sponsor of S. 1134, which authorized the construction of a new bridge over the St. Croix River.
  • The new bridge is expected to open in 2017, replacing the 85-year old Stillwater Lift Bridge.
