Ron Johnson Leads on Efforts to Keep Terrorists Out of the U.S.
While Ron tackles problems with visas, Senator Feingold fails to recognize terrorist threats on American soil
The Ron Johnson campaign released the following statement as the Homeland Security Committee he chairs tackles problems with our country’s visa program to help keep terrorists out of the United States:
“Ron Johnson is leading the charge to protect Wisconsin communities by helping to keep terrorists out of the U.S., while Senator Feingold doesn’t even seem to recognize there’s a battle at hand,” campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger said. “Ron helped pass a crucial law to guard American soil, and continues to expose the risks our country faces. Like a typical career politician, Senator Feingold offered nothing while serving 18 years in Washington D.C.”
Key Facts:
- Today the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, which Ron chairs, held a hearing examining the security of the U.S. Visa programs.
- Ron led in the Senate late last year to pass a law that helps keep terrorists out of the U.S., the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act.
- Senator Feingold has not only failed to offer a serious proposal on keeping terrorists out of the U.S., he is weak on securing the border and supports the president’s reckless proposal to close Guantanamo Bay – which risks letting terrorists return to the battlefield or to American soil.
- Senator Feingold also repeatedly voted against measures to stop terrorists plotting attacks on American soil, such as the lone wolf provision meant to stop terrorists who act alone.
