Ron introduces bill to protect against the Zika virus

When news broke about the devastating effects of the Zika virus, Ron took quick action that would allow the Obama administration to use leftover funds set aside to fight Ebola to address the Zika virus.

From USA Today:

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., introduced a bill Tuesday that would give the administration the flexibility to use existing funds that had been set aside for combating the Ebola outbreak two years ago.  The legislation lifts restrictions on the remaining funds to allow them to be spent for response and preparedness related to the Zika virus. Identical legislation has been offered in the House by Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah.

There was nearly $3 billion left in the fund as of September, Johnson’s office said.
