The campaign for U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson launched a digital ad push Wednesday to highlight the Republican’s record on national security.
The ads will appear on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and mark the Johnson campaign’s first new spending of 2016.
The ads focus on Johnson’s legislation passed in December, the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Travel Prevention Act.
“Ron is fighting for real solutions to keep our country safe, not just recycling old ideas or paying lip service to the very real concerns Wisconsinites have about the threat of violent Islamic extremism,” campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger said in a statement.
In the fall, Johnson faces Democratic candidate Russ Feingold in an election rematch.
