Between meeting with constituents throughout the state, traveling to Ukraine as part of the Foreign Relations Committee, and keeping the pressure on the Obama administration with his lawsuit, it’s been a busy couple of weeks for Ron Johnson!
In the state, Ron traveled throughout southern Wisconsin, speaking at Lincoln Day events in Racine, Crawford, and Richland counties, holding a town hall meeting in Trevor, and meeting with small business leaders in Prairie du Chien and Spring Green. Additionally, Ron held a teletownhall with constituents, dialing out to 100,000 people throughout Wisconsin and taking questions on everything from the propane shortage to Benghazi.
Senator Johnson joined Governor Walker and others at the Charlie Sykes Insight 2014 event in Milwaukee. Fresh from his trip to Ukraine, Ron shared his perspective on the situation in Crimea as well as talking about Benghazi, Obamacare, and the national debt.
Additionally, Ron was proud to attend the naturalization ceremony of 63 new American citizens in Milwaukee, including one of his staffers, Manny Vasquez.
Ron was part of the eight-member delegation that traveled to Ukraine in the wake of the crisis in Crimea. He returned from the trip with a unique perspective on the situation, advocating for a more robust strategy to help Ukraine build up its military and for a tougher, more united stance from this administration.
Ron led the charge to get the controversial IMF language removed from the Ukraine aid package. On Tuesday, Ron was one of eight Senators who filed an amendment to remove the IMF changes, and thankfully, the language was removed from the final package.
Lastly, I wanted to make sure you were all aware of the latest happenings with Ron’s lawsuit against the administration. The administration finally responded, and, as expected, continues to ignore the failings of the law. They claim Ron has not sustained a “personal and concrete injury” due to Obamacare. We think otherwise – and we think the millions of Americans who have suffered real harm due to this law would agree.
The Heritage Foundation has come out in support of our lawsuit, and we’re looking forward to other Members of Congress and organizations voicing their support in the coming weeks.
As always, thank you for all you do!
