WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican Senator Ron Johnson co-sponsors Republican and Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey’s Balanced Budget Proposal.
The plan, according to Toomey, balances the budget in nine years without raising taxes.
Senator Johnson says this is a three step process.
The first is establishing spending caps. The second is the budget proposal, whether it’s Pat Toomey’s or fellow Wisconsin Representative Paul Ryan’s and step three is prioritizing spending.
Sen. Johnson says, “I’m for any plan that starts establishing that hard fiscal discipline and prevents America from going bankrupt.”
Toomey says lawmakers still need to make broader reforms that aren’t in his budget.
He says that includes Social Security and Medicare.
