Says in new radio interview the Iran deal is one of the “great things that the president has done”
The Ron Johnson campaign today released the following statement on Senator Feingold doubling down on President Obama’s failed foreign policy, including increasingly vocal support of a reckless deal with Iran following a missile test and the detention of 10 U.S. sailors:
“Senator Feingold’s far-left ideology and support for President Obama’s failed foreign policy have become downright dangerous,” campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger said. “Ron Johnson fought the Iran deal tooth-and-nail and has made clear we shouldn’t be sending billions of taxpayer dollars to the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. Senator Feingold is saying the deal ‘hopefully will work’ even as the Iranians show they’ll do whatever they want – further proof he’s the wrong choice on national security and would put our safety at risk.”
Concern over Iran’s missile test late last year has led to new sanctions, even as the Obama administration continues to praise its deal with the Iranians. In addition to the missile test, Iran recently temporarily detained 10 American sailors for reasons that are still unclear.
On Friday, Senator Feingold cited the Iran deal as one of the “great things that the president has done” that “hopefully will work” in an interview with Sherwin Hughes on WNOV radio in Milwaukee.
Ron was one of the most vocal critics of the Iran deal, which he opposed for failing to completely dismantle Iran’s nuclear program and for injecting billions of dollars into the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. He also fought for the deal to be considered as a treaty, which would require a higher level of congressional approval.
