Ron Johnson Campaign Statement on Senator Feingold’s Fundraiser with Former Presidential Nominee Michael Dukakis
The Ron Johnson campaign today released the following statement on news that Senator Russ Feingold was raising money with former Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis:
“There’s no better example of how Senator Feingold can’t be trusted to deal with the serious problems facing our nation than a fundraiser with Michael Dukakis in Massachusetts,” campaign spokesman Brian Reisinger said. “Senator Feingold already made clear he’d abandoned his principles on the issue that mattered to him most – campaign finance – and now he’s aligning himself with a candidate who voters rejected long ago for failing to grasp what it would take to keep our country safe.”
- Senator Feingold is scheduled to attend a fundraiser tonight with former Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis, who lost in 1988 to President George H.W. Bush in a campaign that centered in part on national security.
- The fundraiser is the latest example of Senator Feingold breaking his career-defining promise to rely on Wisconsin for a majority of his campaign donations.
- As recently as this year, Michael Dukakis made clear he still doesn’t grasp the dangers facing our country when he said that he didn’t believe “for a minute” that terrorists are an “existential threat.”
