In case you missed it, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Christian Schneider wrote over the weekend that Senator Feingold used his dark money group Progressives United as a “shell campaign” for his 2016 re-election bid.
This follows a string of revelations about Senator Feingold’s hypocrisy and broken promises on campaign finance and other issues, including news that:
- Just 5 percent of the money Progressives United raised went toward candidates and causes.
- Senator Feingold has broken his promise to rely on Wisconsin for the majority of his campaign donations, despite honoring the career-defining pledge in 2010 after the Citizens United ruling.
- Senator Feingold cashed in on the paid-speech circuit after being a critic of public officials giving paid speeches to groups.
- Senator Feingold took $35,000 in contributions from a lobbyist bundler, despite supposedly building his career on limiting the influence of lobbyists and pushing for tighter restrictions on lobbyist bundlers.
