Ron Johnson on CNN’s State of the Union: We Must “Find Terrorists Wherever They Exist and Wipe Them Out”

Discusses defeating ISIS, keeping terrorists out of the U.S., and protecting critical infrastructure and nuclear facilities

In case you missed it, Ron Johnson was on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, where he discussed the failure of President Obama to adequately address the threat of Islamic terror, saying the U.S. needs to “find terrorists wherever they exist and wipe them out.”

You can watch the entire interview here, and here are some key excerpts:

On the need for a comprehensive strategy to destroy ISIS and defeat Islamic terror:“It’s a concern here in America, which is why we have to address the root cause or problem. It’s the instability in Syria and Iraq. It’s the fact that ISIS exists – that it’s still standing. … We have to take it seriously and defeat ISIS and find terrorists wherever they exist and wipe them out.”

On the president’s reckless plan to close Guantanamo Bay: “We need a long-term facility for long-term detention, and that’s how you gather intelligence is capturing people and detaining them and interviewing them over a long period of time.”

On protecting our nation’s critical infrastructure and nuclear facilities: “I’m highly concerned about that, but not only in Europe — look at the attack on the Metcalf power station in California. …trust me, our critical infrastructure is vulnerable to cyber-attack, to potential terrorist attack, and we are not taking this threat seriously enough. So it’s very concerning.”
